Henry Hudson was born on September 12, 1555 in England and died on June 18, 1611 in the Hudson Bay. He had three sons: Richard, John and Oliver. His wife, Katherine, stayed with Richard and Oliver since John had left with his father to Henry's fourth and last voyage, and were never seen again.
He did a total of four voyages, in his first one in 1607 he found a passage to the Orient through the north, across the North Pole. In his second voyage in 1608 he wanted to find an Northeast passage through the Arctic waters, north of Russia but he coudn't and returned to England. In his third voyage in 1609 some people forced him to return and try to accomplish what he had to complete in his second voyage but he couldn't because his ship was in bad conditions so he landed in America. His last voyage in 1610, he wanted to find a Northwest passage, but was never seen again.
He is famous for finding a river and a bay which he named after himself, that is: The Hudson Bay (Canada) and The Hudson River (U.S.A), he also was famous because he was an explorer.
